GIST: The lesson deals with two Armenian boys who stay away from the values of trust and honesty for which their tribe is famous. The story revolves around the theme of adventure and thrill of youth and strong tribe character.
Aram and Mourad belonged to the Garoghlanian family known for its honesty and integrity.
They had a craze for riding a horse but could not afford to have one.  Mourad stole John Byro’s horse one day.  Both the cousins took the horse every morning for ride. John Byro came face to face with the horse one day. They returned the horse to its rightful owner as they did not want to bring a bad reputation to the family through their actions.
 Competencies:
Listening, Speaking, Reading, and Writing

·               They will learn the elements of short story, i.e. plot, setting, characters, conflict, and resolution.

·         Through class discussions the teacher will illustrate the elements of a short story.

·         The students will evaluate each-other’s short stories through a peer review.
·         The class will discuss the short stories presented.
·         The teacher will suggest students to short stories by Indian authors, like Ruskin Bond, R K Narayan, R K Laxman, etc.

·         Mourad seems to have a way with animals, birds and farmers. Explain the truth of this statement.
·         Jokes and pranks add spice to life, but they should be in a limit. Comment on this statement on basis of the story.
·         Bring out the similarities between the characters of Uncle Khosrov and Mourad.
·         Write a brief note on the life and works of William Saroyan.

Advertising is the public promotion of a product or service in order to attract interest in the product or service – generally to increase sales.  In this lesson, students will learn about the different forms of advertising and will choose a way to advertise their product or service.
